Mocha Dream

Ingredients: Roasted chicory root*, carob*, licorice root*, allspice*, cinnamon*, nutmeg*, vanilla*.(*organic)

CAUTION:

Licorice root should be avoided by individuals with high blood pressure, kidney disease, or heart conditions, and may interact with corticosteroids, diuretics, or medications that affect potassium levels.

Chicory root contains naturally occurring inulin, which may cause gas, bloating, or digestive discomfort in sensitive individuals, particularly when consumed in larger amounts.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking medications, or have a medical condition, consult a qualified healthcare professional knowledgeable in the use of herbs before regular use.

1–2 tsp (3–6 g) 8–10 oz water 212°F 8–10 minutes

Steep covered, then strain well.

Mocha Dream is ground fairly fine. For best results, we recommend using a muslin tea bag, fine-mesh infuser, or French press rather than a more open-style tea infuser.

For a richer, more coffee-like cup, use 2 tsp (6 g) and steep for the full 10 minutes.

For iced tea: Double the amount of tisane, brew hot, then pour over ice or chill before serving.

FRENCH PRESS:

Add 1–2 tsp (3–6 g) per 8–10 oz water to your French press. Add 212°F water and allow to steep for 8–10 minutes. Press slowly and serve.

The French press is especially well suited to Mocha Dream because of its fine grind and coffee-like character.

Roasted chicory root has a long and fascinating relationship with coffee. It has historically been roasted and brewed as a caffeine-free coffee substitute and has also been blended with coffee to extend the brew and contribute its distinctive dark, roasted flavor. That tradition became particularly well known in parts of Europe and later in places such as Louisiana, where chicory remains closely associated with coffee culture.

Carob has likewise been valued as a naturally sweet, cocoa-like food, while cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, vanilla, and licorice have long histories as aromatic culinary botanicals.
