Tuo Cha Pu'erh

Ingredients: 100% chinese pu’erh (Yunnan province)

1/2 tuo cha (1 tuo cha is ~6g) 8 oz water 195–212°F 2–4 minutes

For iced tea: Use 1 whole tuo cha/8oz hot water/pour over a full cup of ice.

Gaiwan Preparation 1/2 - 1 tuo cha 6 oz water 195–212°F

Rinse the tuo cha briefly with hot water and discard the rinse. For the first infusion, steep for 10–20 seconds and strain completely. Re-steep several times, adding approximately 5–10 seconds to each subsequent infusion.

Tuo Cha is especially well suited to multiple steepings. The compressed leaves will gradually loosen and open with each infusion, allowing the flavor to evolve from deep and earthy to increasingly smooth and mellow.
