Chocolate Pu'erh

Ingredients: 100% pu'erh, cacao nibs*, dark chocolate pieces*, rose petals*, natural & artificial flavors (*organic)

Dark chocolate pieces ingredients: Sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, milk fat, soy lecithin, vanilla extract.

1 tsp (3 g) 8–10 oz water 195–212°F 2–4 minutes

For iced tea: Double the amount of tea leaves. Brew hot first, then pour over ice or allow to chill.

Gaiwan Preparation

10 g tea 6 oz water 212°F

Rinse the leaves briefly with hot water and discard the rinse. For the first infusion, steep for 10–20 seconds and strain completely. Re-steep the same leaves several times, adding approximately 5–10 seconds to each subsequent infusion.

A Note About Multiple Steeps: The chocolate and sweet components in Chocolate Pu’erh will melt and release primarily during the first one or two infusions. As you continue to re-steep the leaves, the chocolate character and added sweetness will become more subtle, allowing more of the natural earthy depth and complexity of the pu’erh to come forward. This is normal and is part of the changing flavor experience of multiple infusions.

Not Suitable for Cold Brewing

Chocolate Pu’erh should be brewed with hot water to properly melt and incorporate the chocolate and sweet components in the blend. If preparing it as iced tea, always brew it hot first and then chill. As the tea cools, some of the melted ingredients may solidify or separate slightly. This is completely normal and does not affect the flavor.
